Dear Simpson center, I am very aware of your 2 working days policy regarding requests for prescriptions. I have been registered with you for many years. However, one may argue that in a case of an emergency you would be able to act appropriately and offer help to your patients when needed .My 6 year old son took a full Asthma inhaler (just opened)to school this morning in case he started wheezing, as I'd noticed he had a cough. He had to use his inhalers through out the day at school, which meant by the time I was collecting him from school they had unfortunately run out. This evening I contacted the surgery to book an emergency appointment for him to be seen by a doctor as well as to get some more inhalers .( my son was wheezing). I was told they couldn't book an emergency appointment for him to get a prescription for the inhalers . and i needed to request a prescription which takes 2 working days to process "policy". The surgery is aware that my son suffers from server breathing difficultly when he has a viral induced wheeze. I had explained to the receptionist (blond short hair lady) that he had a full inhaler this morning ,but they had run out and we urgently needed a new one.( bearing in mind when we request for inhalers we are only give one). I drove down at 4pm to request for a prescription for an inhaler as an emergency. I was told I couldn't get one today. I insisted I wouldn't leave without a prescription as this was an emergency. ( This was the first time, as a register patient we were asking for this consideration).Obtaining the prescription would prevent us calling the emergency services in the middle of the night. spending nights in hospital, and most of all my son's breathing getting worse. After waiting for almost an hour the doctor hands me the prescription with a note.... ( image below).SURELY SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE.. The surgery would rather my son is taken very ill over issuing an emergency prescription. something that would only take less than five mins to print. let alone refuse to see him.. appalling Doctors, Staff and so call policy that must be strictly followed. Simpson Center , we are sorry to have bothered you today.
With wait times of 3 weeks best to go elsewhere, or book ahead just in case your'e going to be sick.
I have been coming here for a number of years and have always regarded the surgery highly. The surgery itself is pleasant and welcoming in addition so are the staff who acknowledge you in a friendly manner
An excellent practice lead by the incomparable Dr Graeme Fletcher ( unfortunately retiring at the end of the month). My family has had over thirty five years experience with this team dealing with problems from cancer, heart issues to Alzheimers . Dr Fletcher in particular has been amazing, very good at putting you at your ease and in suggesting the right course of action. He was brilliant with my aged parents who could be quite tricky to handle.Ive absolutely no complaints and can not recommend this practice more highly.
been my local Practice for 40yrs. Doctors come and go but always very good community GPs
